Ode to the Unicode Standard, version 4.0

(With apologies to the ghost of JRR Tolkien.)

Three Codes for the Roman scripts, over ASCII.
Seven for the Indics, with curl and plume.
Nine for ideographic Chinese, doomed by BIG-5.
One for the Dark Consortium, in its dark conference room
In the Land of Belgium where the ISO lies.
One Code to grep them all, One Code to find them,
One Code to key them all and in the darkness bind them,
In the Land of Belgium where the ISO lies.

Yes, yes, technically the ISO is in Switzerland, but a great deal of bureaucracy is centered in Belgium, and Belgium scans better. Also, Belgium is inherently funny.
