PSA: Noncitizens can donate in federal elections.

Did you know that you can contribute to any federal election campaign, even if you are not a citizen, as long as you have obtained permanent US residency? I was just reading this Slate transcript of a live chat about what people can do to help their preferred candidate, and saw that Chris Beam had told an Aussie living in the US that one thing he could do was contribute. I was all set to send in a correction, but upon further inspection, it appears to be true: the fine print on donation forms says that you must affirm the statement, "I am a United States citizen or a lawfully-admitted permanent resident." (emphasis added) Clearly I need to read the fine print more often...

I know for a fact that a few of you out there are non-citizens but permanent residents, and many of you know such people. Spread the word, and get folks to donate! And please put "Auros" in the referral field at bottom right! :-)
