Is there really not a PGP plugin for GMail?

You'd think that would've been one of the first Labs they came up with.

Do you know Djinnaya and Jason? Jason works there, (PGP) he would know.

Using the basic PGP software you can always, by hand, encrypt and sign stuff. But only the GMail team would be able to produce an actual directly-integrated system that would let you either upload your private key to a secure server, or specify the keyfile on your drive that would be read across SSL each time it was needed. That's the only way you could start making the whole process simple enough for a large number of people to use it.
