High-Efficiency Solar Cells.

Almost too good to be true.: "The panels are able to generate enough energy to run stoves, geysers, lights, TVs, fridges, computers.... The new technology should be available in South Africa within a year.... The panels are so efficient they can operate through a Cape Town winter.... The new, highly efficient and cheap alloy solar panel is much more efficient than the costly old silicone solar panels."

So, what does it cost to plaster them over the roof of a typical home? And what's the downside in terms of energy cost to produce them in the first place, toxic byproducts, etc?
