Auros Face from wedding

So, I finally got up the willpower to get up early, and bike to work. According to Yahoo maps, it's about 3.6 miles, and that sounds about right... I don't think it took me more than about half an hour, and I was feeling like, OK, that was a good workout, nothing too horrible... Until I actually got inside into the A/C, set my bike on its kickstand next to my desk, and sat down. At which point I was hit by a wave of nausea and had to lie down on the floor of my cube for about five or ten minutes and just sweat... I've vaguely heard of that kind of reaction, but never had it happen to me before... Not totally sure what I can do to prevent it in future. I didn't feel like I was overexerting myself on the ride; how was I supposed to know it was going to be a problem?

Oh, and after I got up, I had to go wash my hands; a few minutes after leaving the house, I discovered that you can't use setting seven on the right-hand gearshift, because it causes the chain to slip off completely. I had to stop and futz around with the chain to get it back on the sixth gear. *makes note to thwack the friend who sold me the bike*

Also, I think I may need to raise the seat a notch. (Anyone know more about bikes than me? How do you tell where the seat is supposed to be?)

And now for something completely different. (And then something usual.)

An actual positive comment about a corporation!

I was just in the office kitchen refilling my mug with water, and happened to glance at the Wall Street Journal on the table... They have an article today (or possibly it was yesterday's) about Colgate's program of bringing dental care to South American native tribes. I probably haven't mentioned, but Colgate-Palmolive is one of the few large corporations that actually seems to take an interest in being good citizens. So I buy Colgate toothpaste and Palmolive dish detergent. I really should poke around among the laundry detergents to see if C-P makes one. I currently use All, which, last I checked, was an independent. (But their ads are annoying. And I'm petty about such things. *g*)
